The Shetland Council of Social Service is a Shetland based registered charity.

Our mission:

 “To develop voluntary action in Shetland by providing services to established voluntary organisations and provide support, advice and services to new projects”

Our aims:

• To initiate needs assessment within Shetland

• To assist the development of voluntary organisations’ response to emergency needs

• To encourage the voluntary participation of local people in community organisations

• To provide practical and advisory services to SCSS members (and non-members)

• To support collaborative activities between voluntary organisations and local statutory bodies

• To encourage and promote support for the local voluntary sector from public and private bodies.   Since inception Shetland CVS has initiated, supported and assisted 33 community groups and projects.  (See library for the list!)
