To support the efforts of disabled people to realise their full potential in all areas of life.

Disability Shetland's aims and objectives are as follows:-

• By participating in a means of consultation and joint action among voluntary and statutory organisations concerned with the welfare of physically and mentally disabled people of all ages.

• By increasing understanding of the problems of disability and by encouraging integration in its fullest sense between disabled and non-disabled members of the community.

• By promoting, providing and encouraging the development of services and facilities for people with disabilities, including a barrier-free environment.
